My name is Sirius and I am a Russian Blue cat.
I was a house kitten. I had a warm bed, a soft blanket, and most importantly, my brother Gray. We were always together: sleeping side by side, playing, and believing that it would always be like this.
But without any explanation, the people we loved simply carried us out into the street. We sat near the house for a long time, hoping that it was a mistake, that the doors would open again. But the door remained closed forever.
We were left alone and had to learn to survive. We looked for food in trash cans, hid in basements and among ruins, and huddled together at night. Sometimes explosions sounded over the city, military equipment rumbled, and all this made our small world very scary. But my brother was nearby, and this gave us the strength to hold on.⠀
One day, the military found us. They accidentally saw us — two skinny gray cats huddled close to each other. They put down some food, held out their hand — and we didn’t run away. We simply trusted them because we understood that these people wouldn’t hurt us.
This is how we ended up in the shelter. It's warm and calm here. People say that I'm very affectionate, but a little more serious than my brother. I like to sit by the window and watch the world, but at the same time I'm always ready to come and lie down quietly next to a person who needs company.
I also quickly find a common language with other cats and despite my past, I really love the attention of people. Because despite the fact that we were once betrayed, I still believe in goodness.
I'm a cat who knows what it's like to be abandoned, but I also know how important it is to look for the light even when there is no hope. And I know for sure that one day I will be taken back to a loving home.
