My name is Joe and I am a mixed breed dog.
I was one of those who was rescued from the front line in the Kherson region during a strong drone attack. That day I was wandering in a village, in complete emptiness among the rubble of houses. Not a single person, not a single living soul. I don’t remember exactly how I ended up literally in the middle of nowhere, but I remember loud explosions after which my life changed forever.
My paws had been bleeding for a long time, but I didn’t stop running. The sound, which I already knew very well and which carried only death, followed me constantly. It was a drone, I saw it clearly and understood that I had become its target again. Previously, I always managed to hide from them, but this time it seemed to me that luck would leave me. Later, I learned that what was happening to me people would call "dog war hunting". The one who controlled this death machine for fun, not for some important purpose, specifically aimed at dogs. Why? I don’t know, but I know that there is no limit to the cruelty of those who started this war.
In the middle of all this noise and horror, I heard footsteps. And then, she appeared. I didn't know exactly what to expect from her, so I showed her my teeth, a little, but in response, this girl only smiled and said: "And how do you like my teeth? Believe me, I'm just as scared as you are, but we have no choice, we need to escape from the drone...". And fortunately, we successfully managed to do it.
Now I'm in a shelter and I'm so grateful that I was taken away from that endless horror. Here I always have delicious food, care, people to play with and other dogs to have fun with. I don't always find a common language with everyone right away, but I learn quickly and love to complete all the tasks assigned to me. And despite my difficult past, I believe that one day I will find people I can completely trust and who will accept me as part of the family.
